Those who have served our country deserve access to high-quality healthcare close to home. At Landmark Chiropractic in Georgetown, Kentucky, we are honored to care for Veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families by providing conservative, evidence-based chiropractic care to help relieve pain, improve mobility, and restore function.
Many Veterans are surprised to learn that chiropractic care is a covered benefit through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for eligible Veterans. Through the VA Community Care Program, many Veterans may receive treatment from community providers like Landmark Chiropractic after receiving a referral from their VA healthcare team.
The VA’s Chiropractic Program‘s mission: “Our mission is to serve America’s Veterans by providing the highest quality chiropractic care while maintaining a strong commitment to advance chiropractic education and research.”
The history of their program: “In response to Veteran demand, Congress authorized VA to begin providing chiropractic care in 1999. Since 2004 VA provides these services to all eligible Veterans either on-station or through community care at all medical centers. One study* demonstrated that from fiscal year 2005 through 2015 the number of on-station VA chiropractic clinics increased from 27 to 65, and the number of Veterans receiving care in these clinics increased from just over 4,000 to over 37,000. VA continues to assess and modify its delivery of chiropractic services to meet Veteran demand.”

Why Veterans Often Benefit from Chiropractic Care
Military service places tremendous physical demands on the body. Years of carrying heavy gear, repetitive lifting, physical training, long periods of driving, airborne operations, and combat-related activities can contribute to chronic musculoskeletal pain. Common conditions Veterans seek chiropractic care for include:
- Low back pain
- Neck pain
- Shoulder pain
- Hip pain
- Joint stiffness
- Headaches
- Muscle tension
- Limited mobility
- Repetitive strain injuries
These conditions can affect daily activities, sleep quality, work performance, and overall quality of life.
The VA Recognizes Chiropractic Care as Part of Whole-Person Healthcare
The VA has integrated chiropractic services into its standard Medical Benefits Package as a non-surgical, non-drug treatment option for eligible Veterans. VA chiropractors diagnose and manage non-operative neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions using evidence-based care that may include:
- Patient education
- Spinal manipulation (chiropractic adjustments)
- Manual therapies
- Active rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise
- Other conservative treatment approaches designed to improve function and reduce pain
The VA also integrates chiropractic care with primary care, rehabilitation, pain management, and other medical specialties as part of its multidisciplinary approach to Veteran health.
Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Veterans
Every patient is unique, but many Veterans seek chiropractic care because it may help:
- Reduce Pain Naturally: Many musculoskeletal conditions can often be managed conservatively without surgery, helping patients improve comfort and function through hands-on care and rehabilitation.
- Improve Mobility : Proper spinal and joint function can make everyday movements easier, whether you’re working, exercising, or simply enjoying time with family.
- Support Active Lifestyles: Whether you’re hiking, golfing, gardening, exercising, or simply wanting to remain independent, improving mobility and reducing discomfort can help you stay active longer.
- Better Posture and Movement: Years of military service often create movement patterns that place additional stress on the spine and joints. Chiropractic care helps evaluate these patterns while promoting healthier biomechanics.
- Complement Other Medical Care: Chiropractic care often works alongside physical therapy, rehabilitation, primary care, and other medical services to support comprehensive musculoskeletal health.

How Landmark Chiropractic Works with the VA

Our team understands the importance of timely communication and coordinated care.
