Landmark Chiropractic Works with the VA Community Care Program

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recognizes chiropractic care as part of its standard Medical Benefits Package for eligible Veterans. Chiropractic services may be provided directly at VA facilities or through the VA Community Care Program, allowing eligible Veterans to receive treatment from participating community providers like Landmark Chiropractic when appropriate.

As a participating community provider, Landmark Chiropractic works alongside the VA to provide conservative treatment for musculoskeletal conditions while maintaining communication with the Veteran’s healthcare team when appropriate.

Our goal is simple:

  • Convenient local care close to home
  • Personalized treatment plans
  • Evidence-based chiropractic services
  • Improved function and mobility
  • Drug-free pain management
  • Compassionate care that respects your service

Why Chiropractic Care Benefits Veterans & Active-Duty Military

Many Veterans continue experiencing pain long after their service has ended.

Military service places extraordinary physical demands on the body. Repetitive lifting, ruck marches, airborne operations, combat training, long deployments, heavy protective gear, vehicle operations, and physically demanding occupations can all contribute to wear and tear on the spine, joints, muscles, and connective tissues.Ā Chiropractic care may help individuals experiencing:

  • Chronic low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Hip pain
  • Knee pain
  • Joint stiffness
  • Headaches
  • Muscle tension
  • Limited mobility
  • Repetitive stress injuries
  • Poor posture
  • Reduced flexibility

Rather than masking symptoms, chiropractic care focuses on improving spinal and joint function, helping patients move more comfortably while supporting the body’s natural healing processes.

Chiropractic Care as Part of Whole-Person Veteran Healthcare

The VA has increasingly embraced conservative, non-drug treatments as part of its Whole Health approach to caring for Veterans. Doctors of Chiropractic within the VA diagnose and manage non-operative neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions and work alongside primary care, rehabilitation, pain management, and specialty providers. Treatment may include:

  • Chiropractic adjustments (spinal manipulation)
  • Manual therapy
  • Active rehabilitation
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Patient education
  • Other evidence-based conservative therapies

This collaborative approach helps Veterans improve function, reduce pain, and stay active while minimizing reliance on medications whenever appropriate.

What Research Shows About Chiropractic Care for Veterans

Research continues to demonstrate the value of chiropractic care within military and Veteran healthcare systems.
  • Improved Neck Pain:Ā A Veterans Health Administration study found Veterans receiving chiropractic care for neck pain experienced meaningful improvements in both pain levels and neck function after a course of treatment.
  • Reduced Pain & Better Function:Ā Studies involving Veterans with musculoskeletal conditions—including Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veterans—have shown chiropractic care can reduce pain while improving mobility and daily function. Reported side effects were generally mild and temporary.
  • Successful Integration into Military & Veteran Healthcare:Ā A systematic review of chiropractic services in military and Veteran healthcare facilities found chiropractic care is successfully integrated into these settings, supports rehabilitation, addresses common musculoskeletal conditions, and is associated with high patient satisfaction.
  • Supports Non-Drug Pain Management: The VA has identified chiropractic care as an important non-pharmacologic treatment option for musculoskeletal conditions. VA reports also note chiropractic care has been associated with decreased opioid use among Veterans managing chronic pain.
